Undergraduate Program Entry Requirements

Students entering undergraduate programs at St. Lawrence College face specific criteria. They need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent certification, with most of their Grade 11 and 12 courses at the College or University prep levels including a must-have: Grade 12 English. A Grade 11 Math is also required. Depending on the chosen program, additional prerequisites may apply, so it’s important to check the Admission Requirement Chart for precise details. For those who are home-schooled, the college assesses them individually, possibly requiring detailed curriculum information and pre-admission tests.

International students aiming for undergraduate programs must meet the equivalent Ontario curriculum prerequisites for their desired program and prove English proficiency through assessments like IELTS or TOEFL, among others listed on the college’s website. If interested in competitive programs, they should complete their applications by February 1 to be considered equally. After this date, it’s a first-come, first-served principle.

Postgraduate Program Entry Requirements

Aiming for postgraduate studies brings its set of application deadlines: June 1 for priority decisions and August 1 as the final call for the fall semester. For spring semester hopefuls, January 1 is the cutoff. The college commits to responding within one to two weeks post each deadline.

Applications demand an online Graduate Program Application, a $50 fee (excused for university employees), a Statement of Purpose, an up-to-date resume or C.V., official transcripts confirming a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institute, two academic endorsements, and current immunization records. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 stands for full admission, though provisional admission might be on the table. Internationals should reach out to the Office of International Student Services to kick off the approved enrollment process.

International Student Entry Requirements

International students have the flexibility to apply throughout the year as it suits them. English proficiency evidenced by assessments such as IELTS or TOEFL, with results within the last two years, is mandatory. For Student Direct Stream (SDS) applicants, specific scores are demanded: an overall IELTS band of 6.0 with no individual band below 6.0.

Meeting the Ontario curriculum prerequisites for the chosen program and providing documented English proficiency is crucial. Competitive program aspirants again face the February 1 deadline for equal consideration, with a first-come, first-served policy thereafter. They must also show proof of status in Canada if not holding Canadian citizenship, along with securing a student visa for those outside Canada.

For comprehensive details on applying as an international student, including necessary documentation and the application steps, visiting the college’s website or connecting with the admissions office directly is recommended.
