Description

Complete Education Cycle

Stephen Perse Schools operate as a unified educational group across multiple sites, all functioning under one foundation. The network spans from early years through sixth form:

  • 4 nurseries for ages 1-5: three in Cambridge and one in Saffron Walden (Essex)
  • 2 junior schools for ages 5-11: Rosedale House in Cambridge and Dame Bradbury’s in Saffron Walden
  • Senior School for students aged 11-16, located in Cambridge
  • Stephen Perse Sixth Form for 16-18 year-olds, offering co-educational programmes in Cambridge

What makes the sixth form particularly notable is its flexibility—students can choose from over 30 A-Level subjects, benefiting from small group teaching that prepares them for admission to top universities worldwide.

Infrastructure

The foundation’s central campus on Union Road occupies an entire city block and houses modern science labs, a specialized sixth form library, a 690 m² four-court sports hall, and Cambridge’s only rooftop sports field. There’s also a visual arts centre with a resident artist, a drama and dance studio, and an auditorium that seats 600. Beyond the main site, the 5-acre Latham Close sports ground features a hockey pitch, twelve tennis courts, netball and cricket facilities.

Awards

Stephen Perse was named Best Independent IB School of the Year at the 2014 TES Independent School Awards and topped the Sunday Times’ international schools ranking in 2013. In 2021, the same publication’s Schools Guide declared it the Best Private School of the Decade in East Anglia. The schools have built a reputation for pioneering approaches to education, particularly in digital learning.

Extracurricular Activities

Students have access to diverse clubs and societies:

  • Model UN
  • Musical ensembles
  • Theatre productions
  • Sports sections

Beyond these, they can engage in community service through volunteering, fundraising, and working towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Additional courses in forensic psychology, entrepreneurship, and visual arts complement the core curriculum, supporting well-rounded development.

Learning Advantages

The school offers multiple pathways for student growth:

  • Academic programmes: International Baccalaureate and preparation for leading world universities
  • Extracurricular activities: sports sections, musical ensembles, art studios
  • Infrastructure: contemporary laboratories, libraries, sports complexes
  • International community: students from over 50 countries creating a diverse learning environment
