School’s Foundation
Verbier International School emerged in 2011 within the Swiss Alps, right at the heart of a renowned ski resort. From the outset, it was conceived as a family project where nature taught alongside educators. This philosophy—to live and grow among mountains rather than merely beside them—shaped the school’s character for years to come, fostering resilience and genuine curiosity in students through their alpine environment.
New Campus of Verbier International School
Summer 2025 brought significant change when Verbier International School merged with Copperfield International School while retaining the VIS name. Partnership with Dukes Education, a distinguished British school family with global reach, enabled this union and opened doors to international connections. Simultaneously, VIS launched its new Les Trois Cimes campus in central Verbier—a modern facility with an adjacent sports center—appointing Grant Ferguson, an experienced educator committed to academic excellence through holistic personal development, to lead the merged institution.
Accreditation
VIS earned recognition from both the Council of British International Schools and Cognia, two respected quality benchmarks in education that verify everything from student safety to teacher expertise, classroom resources to boarding arrangements. Additionally, it became an authorized International Baccalaureate school, enabling students to pursue the IB diploma recognized by leading universities worldwide, while those preferring an alternative route can obtain an American High School Diploma.
Values and Mission
Verbier International School’s philosophy rests on a straightforward belief: every child is unique, and learning becomes an adventure whether in classrooms or on slopes. Five principles—kindness, family, teamwork, curiosity, and courage—emerged from conversations with students, parents, and teachers. VIS’s mission is “education at altitude,” literally situated at 1,500 meters but ultimately aiming higher: cultivating happy, confident individuals ready to take risks and embrace their roles as global citizens.
