Founded in 1903, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School stems from the fusion of two educational institutions, the Nacoochee Institute and the Rabun Gap Industrial School. Its founders, Andrew Jackson Ritchie and Addie Corn Ritchie, sought to uplift the marginalized Rabun Gap community. A pivotal moment arrived in 1917 with the inception of the “Farm Family Plan,” allowing entire families to contribute and earn their way through education.
