This university, which began its journey around 1870 as the Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art, has grown into a significant academic institution. Campus Environment and Expansion

Our university’s campus is spread across several locations, providing diverse learning environments. These include the University Quarter, Northern Quarter, Langstone Campus, and a recently added London Campus. The main campus on Winston Churchill Avenue remains the hub of academic activities, equipped with extensive facilities and resources.

The University’s Historical Progress

Reflecting on the university’s evolution, it has made remarkable strides since its early days as a Municipal college and public library in 1908. Significant developments include the establishment of the Student Union in 1911, the transformation into Portsmouth Polytechnic in 1969, and eventually achieving university status in 1992.
