Academic Programs at American Academy for Girls

The American Academy for Girls (AAG) offers a comprehensive education from early childhood through high school. The curriculum is meticulously designed to prepare students for the rigours of higher education and life beyond the classroom.

Early Childhood Programs at AAG

At AAG, education begins early, with an early childhood program catering to children from Pre-KG to KG 2. Initially co-educational, the environment transitions to an all-girls setting from Grade 1 onwards. The approach focuses on developing social skills through play-based and inquiry-led learning.

The youngest students benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that includes art, music, swimming, and information and communication technology (ICT), all delivered through engaging thematic units. In KG 1, emphasis is placed on social skills, independence, and the foundational elements of literacy and numeracy. By KG 2, students advance in language, literacy, and numeracy, growing into active and confident learners.

Primary School Curriculum

In the primary school at AAG, the latest educational research and child development principles are integrated into the curriculum. Teaching methods are practical, multisensory, and child-centred, covering core subjects such as reading, writing, mathematics, and social studies.

To enrich the curriculum, subjects like Arabic or Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL), Arabic culture, ICT, library media skills, art, music, physical education, moral education, and UAE social studies are included. This interdisciplinary approach ensures students receive a well-rounded education that meets their diverse learning needs.

Middle School Experience at AAG

The middle school program at AAG supports the multifaceted development of students. A robust American curriculum is offered in a supportive, all-girls environment that addresses the unique needs of adolescent girls. The curriculum encompasses English, mathematics, social studies, science, Arabic, French, ICT, art, music, physical education, and Islamic studies.

This student-centred, activity-based approach ensures each girl is not only academically prepared but also personally equipped to face future challenges.

High School Academic Programs

The high school program at AAG is structured as an American college-preparatory program, requiring a minimum of 26 credit hours for graduation. Core subjects include English, social studies, mathematics, and science, with additional credits available in ICT, physical education, foreign languages/Arabic, fine arts, and various electives.

The program fosters independence, responsibility, and leadership. Pre-AP classes are offered for 9th and 10th graders, and AP classes for selected 11th and 12th graders, ensuring excellent preparation for university admission.
