Musical Opportunities

American School of Madrid runs a choir, orchestra, wind ensemble, and jazz band—students perform in the 600-seat auditorium and tour international festivals across Europe. Those who take IB Music dive deeper: they compose original pieces, analyze works from different eras, and present their projects, which becomes a genuine immersion into both creation and performance.

Visual Art at American School of Madrid

Students explore painting, ceramics, photography, and 3D animation—a new art studio opened in 2024, where they can experiment with any materials and techniques. IB Visual Art takes this further academically: participants build portfolios, research artists from various cultures, and curate their own exhibitions, all of which becomes part of their final assessment.

Theater and Stage

The drama troupe at American School of Madrid stages two productions annually, while upperclassmen present a full-scale spring musical—participants master not only acting but also lighting, sound, and costumes. In 2024, a Black Box Theatre launched for experimental performances, and Drama classes teach improvisation, scriptwriting, and character development, equipping students with skills they’ll use well beyond the stage.

Digital Creativity

Filmmaking courses at American School of Madrid cover the entire cycle—from scriptwriting through editing and sound design, with green screen shoots and festival submissions worldwide. Meanwhile, the distinctive 3D Computer Animation course teaches modeling, rigging, and rendering based on classical animation principles, culminating in a short film with post-production in professional editing software.
