Prestigious Location

American School of Madrid occupies 11 acres in Pozuelo de Alarcón, one of the capital region’s most distinguished neighborhoods, just 10 kilometers from Madrid’s center. Families from across the city find it accessible. The school opened in 1961, and over six decades, it has developed a thoughtful environment that serves everyone from three-year-olds to graduating seniors. Recent years have brought updates to the grounds, including an energy-efficient building and a play park that’s unique to Spain.

Academic Buildings

Younger students attend classes in a dedicated building that houses a library, gymnasium, and two play areas—Don Quijote Park and Sancho Panza Playground. Middle schoolers gained their own facility in 2021, which features science laboratories and flexible spaces where collaborative work happens naturally. The American School of Madrid Arts Center deserves special mention: its 600-seat auditorium, studios for painting, music, and drama, plus an experimental theater, host concerts and performances that reach professional standards—all within the campus itself.

Sports at American School of Madrid

The Athletic Complex contains two gymnasiums where 54 teams practice basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, and gymnastics. Beyond that, the soccer field divides into two mini-pitches when needed, while an all-weather track circles the perimeter for track and field athletes. Two additional multipurpose halls and a fitness center with a yoga studio round out the athletic infrastructure. Training continues year-round, so students develop both technique and habits that support healthy living.

Technology and Project Spaces

Older students pursue project-based work in the Innovation Hub, where the robotics lab and Da Vinci space help them transform concepts into working prototypes. Each division also has Learning Commons—open zones designed for meetings, group research, and events like creative evenings. In 2024, American School of Madrid added a new art studio and experimental theater to its grounds. The campus continues regular updates that reflect current pedagogical approaches and what students actually need.
