Admission

Primary School Entry

For primary school entry at St. Bede’s, parents need to carefully review the admission arrangements before applying. If there are no available places, the child will be placed on the waiting list. The outcome of the application will be communicated within 15 school days of receipt. To apply, parents should complete the in-year admissions application form and submit it to the local authority. Additionally, for consideration under a faith category, supplementary application forms (SIFs) must be completed and returned to the school office, along with a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate if available.

Secondary School Entry

For entry into Bede’s Senior School at Year 9, the Bede’s Experience Day (BE Day) is important. It includes a group task, discussion, individual interview, and a computer-based verbal and non-verbal reasoning test. Offers are not conditional upon Common Entrance results. For Year 12 entry, pupils attend a formal interview with senior staff, and offers are conditional on pupils achieving five GCSEs at Level 6 and above for A Level programs, with some subjects requiring Level 7 or above. For BTEC programs, five GCSEs at Level 4 or above are required.

Sixth Form Entry

To enter Bede’s Sixth Form, pupils go through a formal interview with senior staff and a member of the Sixth Form Team. Offers are conditional on pupils achieving five GCSEs at Level 6 and above for A Level programs, with approximately one-third of subjects requiring Level 7 or above at GCSE to be accepted onto the course. Pupils applying for the BTEC program need five GCSEs at Level 4 or above.

General Admission Information

Bede’s School is open to boys and girls who can benefit from the unique character of the school and its numerous developmental opportunities. The admissions process aims to understand each child, allowing families to gain a genuine insight into Bede’s. Families can join an open day or experience the school on a working day. Children can get a taste of the school through taster days at the Prep School or Bede’s Experience Days/Sixth Form Information Days at the Senior School.

For more detailed information on the admissions process and policies, parents should refer to the specific admissions documents for the year they are applying, available on the school’s website or by contacting the school’s admissions department.
