Rich Educational Opportunities

Beyond the traditional classroom, Bradfield college offers diverse enrichment programs designed to cultivate personal growth and essential life skills. These opportunities encourage students to develop a sense of civic responsibility while building connections within their broader community, preparing them for engaged citizenship alongside academic achievement.

CSP Program at Bradfield college

The Community Service Programme (CSP) provides an alternative pathway for Shell Year 10 pupils who opt out of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) during the Summer Term. Running across three terms—from Shell through to the end of Remove—this initiative enables participants to contribute meaningfully through volunteer work, offering support to those who need it most within local communities.

CSP Options

  1. Young Leaders Sport Award: A nationally accredited program focused on organizing and delivering sporting events, culminating in the planning and execution of external sports competitions.
  2. Rushall Farm Volunteer Programme: Students volunteer at Rushall Farm, collaborating with the John Simmonds Trust on various countryside activities and engaging with children from neighboring areas.
  3. Allotment Project: Students work in small groups to design, create, and maintain the college’s allotment plot, where seasonal fruits and vegetables are grown.
  4. Wildlife Group: An environmental group addressing Bradfield’s and broader environmental concerns, working in the college’s nature reserve and at the Science Centre.

Around ten such projects are available to participants.

Outstanding Student Work

The college maintains a showcase of exceptional student achievements across multiple disciplines. This exhibition features essays, Extended Project Qualifications, International Baccalaureate Extended Essays, visual art, design work, photography, poetry, prose, published pieces, and award-nominated film studies—demonstrating the breadth of creative and intellectual talent nurtured within the community.

EAL at Bradfield college

The English as an Additional Language program supports non-native speakers in developing academic English proficiency. Lower School pupils can pursue EAL up to IGCSE level instead of a second modern language, while Sixth Formers receive targeted support alongside their core curriculum, preparing for the IELTS examination that most British universities require for admission.

The Minerva Programme

Bradfield’s Minerva Programme enriches classroom teaching through lectures and seminars across academic disciplines, forming part of the co-curricular offering. External speakers present on topics beyond the standard curriculum—including politics, career development, sports, and adventure—expanding students’ intellectual horizons and exposing them to diverse perspectives that complement their formal studies.

Bradfield college Support Department

The Student Support and Special Educational Needs Department (SSSD) comprises specialists qualified in teaching pupils with specific learning differences. Working collaboratively with colleagues and families, the team ensures comprehensive academic progress through tailored interventions: one-to-one tuition, small-group instruction, assistive technology, extra time allocations, rest breaks, and strategic seating arrangements during examinations.
