Comprehensive Career Support
From their first year, students explore career possibilities through both formal programming and integrated learning across academic and extracurricular activities. Bradfield Horizons—the college’s career department—maintains a well-stocked library and extensive digital database to guide these explorations. Three dedicated counselors (two full-time, one part-time) remain available to advise both students and parents throughout this journey.
Different Pathways at Bradfield college
While most graduates pursue higher education immediately or after a gap year, apprenticeships and overseas study—particularly in North America—are gaining traction as viable alternatives. In 2023, the top ten university destinations for leavers included Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Exeter, Leeds, Loughborough, Manchester, Newcastle, and Nottingham. The college focuses on equipping students with skills that will help them navigate an evolving career landscape with confidence.
Core Skills Development
The Education for Life program develops essential post-graduation competencies starting in Year 9 (Faulkner), where students engage in activities that prepare them for graduate assessment centers and competitive job markets. In Year 10 (Shell), they tackle the Business Challenge, creating and presenting advertising campaigns to industry judges. This experience hones collaboration, teamwork, and project management—capabilities that prove valuable through sixth form, university, and beyond.
Career Growth at Bradfield college
Upon reaching sixth form, students encounter a broader range of professional possibilities. Meet the Professionals evenings connect them with practitioners—many of whom are alumni—offering insights into various fields. The annual careers fair during lower sixth summer term brings together over 70 participants, from universities and military recruiters to major corporations, giving students ample opportunity to explore their options.
Bradfield Community
Bradfield Horizons runs an active program featuring CV and application workshops, interview practice, communication skills sessions, networking events, speaker presentations, and business challenge days. The college encourages community members to share their professional experiences by participating in these initiatives and offering work placements, allowing students to apply their developing skills while benefiting from broader support networks.
