Community Connections
At Brambletye School, the emphasis on pastoral care is evident in the active participation of all staff members, from teachers to grounds staff. Daily meetings create an environment where students can share their aspirations and concerns, fostering open lines of communication. The Headmaster’s open-door policy further encourages students to express themselves comfortably. This supportive atmosphere helps build strong relationships, ensuring that each child feels valued and heard.
Personalized Guidance
The tutor system at Brambletye School begins at the end of Year 6, where children select a personal Tutor for Years 7 and 8. This relationship allows for close monitoring of academic progress, tailored goal-setting, and a focus on individual strengths and weaknesses. Over two years, tutors work closely with students and parents, playing a crucial role in their educational journey. This personalized approach adds depth to the school’s commitment to student well-being and success.
House Spirit
Entering the Prep School, each child is assigned to one of four houses: Drake, Marlborough, Nelson, or Wellington. This house system encourages a sense of community and responsibility, with older students mentoring younger ones. Each house features a Housemaster/mistress and appoints a House Commander to lead activities. Inter-house competitions, such as cross country and Sports Day, create opportunities for teamwork and enthusiasm, highlighting the school’s vibrant community spirit.
Charitable Engagement
Brambletye School has a rich history of engaging in charitable activities, raising funds for carefully chosen causes. Annually, students organize events like cake sales and art auctions, allowing them to actively participate in philanthropy. The children play a central role in selecting the charity focus, alternating between local and overseas initiatives. This involvement instills a sense of responsibility and social awareness, making charity work an integral part of school life.
Culinary Adventure
The dining experience at Brambletye School stands out, with meals freshly prepared by Chef Annabelle and her dedicated team. Emphasis is placed on healthy and delicious options, ensuring students enjoy what they eat. The Food Committee allows students to have a voice in menu changes, fostering a sense of ownership. Themed events, such as sushi and pizza days, are popular among students, creating a vibrant culinary culture that keeps meals interesting and enjoyable.
Spiritual Tradition
Brambletye School features its own on-site chapel where services occur twice weekly and on weekends. The services blend traditional prayers and hymns with moral teachings, creating a reflective atmosphere. Parents are invited to join Saturday services, promoting family involvement in school life. A highlight of the year is the Christmas Carol Service, held at St. Swithun’s Church, bringing together the community in a festive celebration.
