Programs

Pre-school

Brighton International School’s earliest program focuses on holistic development—physical, intellectual, moral, emotional, and social. Recognizing each child as a unique individual, the approach fosters independence through supportive environments where teachers and parents work closely together. Core learning areas include early literacy and numeracy, personal development, self-awareness, communication, and creative expression. Classes cover English, Malay, science, mathematics, moral or Islamic studies, arts and crafts, music, physical education, and storytelling.

Primary School at Brighton International School

Primary education divides into lower (Years 1-3) and upper (Years 4-6) stages, building literacy, comprehension, and communication skills. Core subjects include English, mathematics, science, and IT, while students also learn a second language—either Mandarin or Malay—alongside social studies, music, art, and PE. Beyond academics, the BRIGHT program develops social skills, and Social Club offers activities ranging from cooking and sports to martial arts, dance, and choir.

Lower Secondary School

For students aged 11-14, the curriculum encompasses English, mathematics, science, and IT as foundations. Brighton International School adds history, geography, a second language (Mandarin, Malay, French, or Arabic), art, and PE to this base. Assessment occurs through optional Cambridge Checkpoint exams, which provide feedback on key subjects. The focus shifts toward leadership, creativity, innovative thinking, and social problem-solving, supported by the LEADER program and collaborative social clubs.

Upper Secondary School

At this level, Brighton International School prepares students for IGCSE exams across roughly 20 subjects, eight of which are examined. English and mathematics remain compulsory, while others—like economics, biology, history, physics, or global perspectives—reflect individual interests. Learning emphasizes deep subject understanding, knowledge application, and intellectual curiosity, complemented by a second language and PE. The LEADER program facilitates academic research, essay writing, internships, and business projects. The pathway culminates in A-levels, where students select all subjects based on career interests, typically requiring over 360 hours per discipline.
