The EYFS at British International School Abu Dhabi follows the British EYFS curriculum, adjusted for an international setting. The program emphasizes essential learning spheres such as interaction, physical advancement, and personal, social, and emotional development. Children engage in multi-sensory play and real-life experiences. For instance, topics like “Let’s Go Explore” promote curiosity and creativity. Class sizes are limited to 20 students, with dedicated teachers and assistants providing personalized support.

Primary School Curriculum

The Primary School adopts the English National Curriculum, which is divided into Key Stages 1 and 2. In Key Stage 1, the focus is on developing essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics through phonics-based techniques. To promote physical development, students engage in activities such as swimming and gymnastics. As they advance to Key Stage 2, learners delve into specialized subjects like science, ICT, and music, often participating in hands-on learning experiences such as cooking classes and historical reenactments, supported by collaborations with esteemed institutions like The Juilliard School.

Secondary School Curriculum (Key Stage 3 and IGCSE)

In Key Stage 3, students are required to study fundamental subjects including English, math, and science, while also having the opportunity to choose electives such as Spanish and business studies. Conducting discussions and practical exercises allows students to develop critical thinking. As they prepare for the IGCSE, students maintain their core subjects while selecting from a wide array of electives, including psychology and creative arts, which serve as a foundation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or BTEC.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme provides a rich array of subjects aimed at nurturing ambitious and socially responsible individuals. Key subject areas encompass languages, sciences, and creative arts. The IBDP core curriculum includes Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), which promotes community engagement and personal development. This comprehensive approach equips students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for their future academic and professional endeavors.
