Forest School

For several years, Brymore Academy has offered a Forest School program. Led by Miss Carter and two assistants, this program provides seventh-grade students with opportunities to participate in outdoor projects.

Activities include setting up a basic camp, identifying trees, building shelters, and studying the environment. These tasks help develop social skills, teamwork, and respect for peers.

Accelerated Reading Program

Brymore Academy also offers the Accelerated Reader program, a reading scheme designed to encourage frequent reading and improve comprehension. Students take the STAR reading test to determine their reading age and Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). They then choose books within their ZPD range.

After completing a book, students take an online test, and their progress is tracked and reported to teachers and parents.

Learning Support at Brymore Academy

Brymore Academy prides itself on the quality of its learning support. The support team, attached to various departments, ensures that all boys can succeed in their subjects. The academy also runs literacy development groups and social communication programs.

The school works closely with students to prepare them for life after school. The academy encourages students to continue their education or pursue internships and offers support for college applications. Brymore also collaborates closely with Bridgwater and Taunton Colleges to ensure a smooth transition for students.

Career Preparation at Brymore Academy

Brymore Academy prepares students for future careers through a multifaceted approach to education. The academy’s unique working farm and garden provide insights into careers in the land sector.

Career education is delivered through tutors, house staff, the PSHRE program, curriculum lessons, extracurricular activities, and meetings with personal advisors.

Motivation at School

Brymore Academy follows a strict disciplinary policy. The academy encourages students to work hard and achieve in both academics and sports. Students can receive praise for good work or effort and recognition for exceptional results.

These achievements are celebrated in weekly assemblies and participate in the annual FOBSA competition.
