The Four Pillars of Brymore Academy
The curriculum at Brymore Academy is built on four pillars: The Farm, The Gardens, The Workshops, and Sports.
The Farm is one of the largest school farms in the country, covering 110 acres. It houses a variety of livestock, including a dairy herd, beef cattle, a pig herd, poultry, and a flock of sheep with lambs. The farm also grows agricultural crops, primarily for the dairy herd.
The Gardens encompass a full acre of walled garden, where each boy has the opportunity to maintain his own plot. The garden includes polytunnels, a heated greenhouse, cold storage, an orchard, a soft fruit garden, a large potting shed, an herb garden, and a beekeeping area.
The Workshops are a central part of the school, consisting of separate workshops for woodwork, metalwork, and sheet metalwork. The workshops also include a computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) suite, welding equipment, a foundry, and a forge.
Sports have a proud tradition at Brymore Academy. The main winter sports are rugby, cross-country running, and hockey, while summer sports include athletics and cricket. Other popular sports include volleyball, tennis, table tennis, sailing, mountain biking, and swimming.
