The Role of Sports at Buckswood School

Everyone gets involved here—from beginners to champions. While physical education is traditionally considered an important part of British education, Buckswood School has taken it to an entirely different level. Beyond the wide range of disciplines, modern infrastructure, and professional coaches, the school runs six elite sports academies that prepare future professionals.

Development of Sports Facilities at Buckswood School

At the turn of the century, the school began actively expanding its infrastructure, with most investments going toward sports facilities. Recent additions include a professional gym worth £200,000, a yacht club, and a forest camp. Plans include building modern Astroturf pitches and an entire swimming pool complex, which will further expand opportunities for training.

Sports Academies at Buckswood School

Six sports academies—football, equestrian, rugby, golf, netball, and futsal—develop physical, technical, tactical, psychological, and social skills. Their goal is professional athlete preparation, with many students joining national teams or continuing their education at UK sports universities. Students gain access to training under nationally recognized experts, physiotherapy and psychological support, and compete in regional, national, and international competitions.
