The Roots and Growth
Back in 1879, our school began its journey as a convent established by the Sisters of the Holy Rosary. This was the start of what we know today as Chase Grammar School. Those early days laid down the education principles and values that would steer the school’s growth over the years.
A century later, by 1979, the school expanded to offer secondary education for students aged 11-16. This broadening of the educational scope was made possible thanks to the support from our parents, allowing the school to extend its influence. It was then renamed Lyncroft House School, marking a significant phase in its development.
Entering the International Arena
In 1996, under new management, our school started to offer courses for international students, thereby establishing itself as a notable international study center and boarding school. This chapter signaled a pivotal change in the school’s direction towards a global educational standpoint, welcoming students from across the globe.
Further developments saw the opening of a Sixth Form Centre, encouraging day students to stay on until age 18 to participate in the new A-Level program. This expansion aimed at delivering a more comprehensive educational journey, spanning primary to post-secondary education.
Recent Milestones
In 2012, another transformation took place when the institution was renamed Chase Grammar School. This change intended to better showcase its academic focus and set it apart from the surge of state-funded academies across the country. It represented a clarification of the school’s identity and mission amidst the changing educational landscape.
2019 was a landmark year as the school celebrated its 140th anniversary. This significant moment was highlighted by the introduction of a new leadership program, aiming to prepare students like us to take on future roles in shaping the direction of Chase Grammar School.

Throughout its history, Chase Grammar School has shown a steadfast commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of its student body and the wider community.
