Drama and Theatre Studies
The Drama Department at Christ’s Hospital encourages students to develop their creative skills and imagination, offering a wide range of co-curricular activities. Following the Edexcel syllabus for both GCSE and A-Level, students have opportunities to devise their own work, study texts, and analyze theatre from a directorial perspective, enhancing both practical and written skills. Many students have successfully gained places at prestigious drama schools or joined the National Youth Theatre, showcasing the department’s success in nurturing talent. The purpose-built theatre, designed by architect Bill Howell, accommodates up to 500 people and hosts a rich program of classical and modern drama, music, comedy, ballet, dance, opera, and lectures, reflecting the school’s commitment to providing a broad and varied program.
