Description

School Profile

Cobham Hall occupies a Grade I listed building from 1573, constructed following Queen Elizabeth I’s visit. Its campus spans 150 acres of parkland in Kent, just thirty minutes from central London. Since September 2025, the school has become fully co-educational, now enrolling boys across all year groups. This creates a multicultural community where British and international students learn together. The grounds even preserve a Swiss chalet where Charles Dickens worked, relocated here in 1870.

Academic Results

In 2025, Cobham Hall achieved its strongest exam performance to date. While 88% of graduates secured places at their first-choice universities, 30% entered prestigious Russell Group institutions—including Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London. At A-Level, 43% of grades reached A*-B, while the average GCSE score hit 6 (a solid B). These outcomes prove particularly remarkable given that a third of pupils have special educational needs, and many international students began with elementary English. The school’s support framework, including the Bligh House SEND Centre opened in 2024 through partnership with Chiltern Way Academy Trust, makes such progress possible.

Curriculum

Following the British system, Cobham Hall structures learning across three stages: Lower School (Years 7-9), Upper School with GCSE exams (Years 10-11), and Sixth Form offering A-Levels (Years 12-13). International students needing language support can access a unique three-year Sixth Form Foundation programme. Educational philosophy centers on Perspectives, which develops critical thinking and leadership throughout. The course evolves from Personal in lower years through Global, culminating in Future—teaching practical skills from budgeting to basic car maintenance. An Independent Learning Centre houses an extensive library and academic databases, hosting regular author visits.

Arts and Sport

Beyond academics, life here pulses with over 40 clubs and activities. Creative arts flourish through dedicated facilities: a darkroom for photography, a pottery workshop with kiln, graphic design studios, and the Tenison-Smith Theatre where students mount productions. After partnering with Steinway & Sons in 2023, music gained fresh momentum when a magnificent concert grand arrived in the historic Gilt Hall. Students pursue vocal training and various instruments, sitting ABRSM and LAMDA examinations that boost university applications. Sports encompass more than 10 disciplines—from a football academy with UEFA-certified coaching to equestrian, tennis, golf, and complimentary swimming three times weekly.

Boarding Life at Cobham Hall

Operating primarily as full boarding, the school offers flexible weekly and occasional options. Three houses accommodate students: Harriet House for girls in the main building, Stuart House for boys (opened 2023), and Brooke House for senior girls. Each room comes fully equipped with personal beds featuring storage, desks with lamps and USB ports, lockable cabinets, and double wardrobes with mirrors. Common areas feature fully-stocked kitchens, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles, film screening spaces. The school organizes London excursions and countryside trips, celebrates cultural events from Nigerian Independence Day to Thanksgiving dinners, while four houses (Clifton, Darnley, Lenox, Richmond) foster friendly competition through year-long points accumulation.
