Concord College takes pride in its outdoor education programs, intentionally incorporating them as a part of the school’s comprehensive educational offerings. Students recognize that these outdoor experiences are not only fun but also vital for their personal growth, fostering skills such as leadership and resilience.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The school is known for its vigorous Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) program, respected globally for the personal and social development it encourages in young people aged 14-24. Participants engage in volunteering, physical activities, skill development, and team expeditions, emerging with not just a prestigious award but also life-enhancing experiences and skills. Run by qualified staff, Concord College ensures that its students have all the necessary support to navigate and succeed in this challenging program.
Global Exposure and Cultural Trips
Beyond the DofE, students are offered the chance to embark on trips extending across global destinations like Paris, Barcelona, New York, and Berlin. In 2019, a remarkable journey took them to Kenya, combining cultural exploration with a meaningful humanitarian project, thus deepening their global understanding and reinforcing a communal spirit among them.
These excursions are more than just travel opportunities; they are instrumental in helping students develop confidence, resilience, and independence. A taste of adventure and cultural intelligence is what Concord College students gain from these experiences, complementing their classroom learning.
Summer Camp Exploration
The college extends its warm embrace to future students through its summer camp, designed for young learners between 10 to 16 years old to get a glimpse of life at Concord College. Here, students get to refine their English skills in a dynamic, enjoyable fashion, and enjoy a slew of afternoon activities ranging from sports to drama, and cultural excursions.
This summer camp serves as a microcosm of the school’s spirit, providing a diverse, friendly, and productive environment for international students to hone their language abilities and pursue various interests.
In essence, the myriad outdoor education programs and trips at Concord College are not just supplementary aspects but core ingredients of the wholesome educational mix that the school provides. These experiences significantly shape students, preparing them for a future marked by success, perspective, and an informed worldview.
