Academic Profile
Dubai British School Mira follows England’s National Curriculum, welcoming children from age three. The journey begins with play-based learning and gradually evolves through structured academics, with each stage building naturally on the previous one.
- Foundation Stage (FS1–FS2, ages 3–5) — early years with play-based learning
- Year 1 — transition year with a hybrid approach
- Years 2–6 — primary education with project-based learning
- Secondary (Years 7–8) — preparing for senior years
Though recently opened, it belongs to the Dubai British Schools network, established in 2005 and known for strong outcomes. Alumni have entered Oxford, Cambridge, and other leading universities worldwide.
Educational Philosophy at Dubai British School Mira
The approach centers on “Enjoy, Aspire, Achieve” — a framework where younger students explore through play, discovering answers independently while moving at their own pace. Teachers set individual goals for each child, adapting support as needed. As students progress into primary years, the curriculum becomes more structured yet maintains its focus on projects and critical thinking, encouraging them to see themselves as people capable of making a difference.
Inclusive Support
Dubai British School Mira uses the Graduated Response model, which identifies each child’s learning barriers and tailors support accordingly. Specialists assist academically, socially, emotionally, and linguistically, including those learning English as an additional language. Children with special educational needs receive individual development plans, reviewed regularly with parents and teachers. This might involve quality classroom teaching, targeted specialist support, or external therapy — all delivered transparently with genuine care for every child.
Languages and Extracurricular Activities
From Year 1 onward, all students study Spanish weekly, engaging with a new culture. Arabic and Islamic education are also part of the curriculum, building cultural literacy relevant to the region where families live.
Beyond languages, there’s a broad extracurricular program available from early years, divided into three streams:
- Active — Pool Games, Super Strokes (beginner tennis), Swim Squad
- Creative — Creative Club, Art Masterclass, World Art Dubai participation
- Academic — Storytime, Book Club, Chevron Readers
The offerings are reviewed each term based on student and parent feedback, with children showcasing what they’ve learned at term’s end. Additionally, paid clubs run by external providers operate alongside these, while team members receive extra opportunities and special uniforms.
