Maisons-Laffitte sits within a 740-acre park where French monarchs once strolled. It was here, beside a château favored by France’s kings, that Ermitage was founded in 1941. The park’s expanse has helped create a secure environment—students move freely between buildings, developing their independence as they go. Meanwhile, the town itself has kept its calm, provincial character while offering everything families need.

Historic Buildings of Ermitage International School

What began as a single mansion has grown into an entire neighborhood block. Ermitage now occupies five separate locations, each preserving the architectural character of traditional French buildings. This expansion has woven the campus into the fabric of the town itself. Four boarding houses occupy historic homes, where shared living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms create an atmosphere that feels genuinely residential rather than institutional.

Division by Educational Levels

The primary campus sits on Avenue Desaix, while the middle and upper grades occupy different streets. The IB program concentrates in three buildings along Avenue Lesage, reflecting France’s tiered approach to education. For IB students, Ermitage International School has equipped these spaces with dedicated science labs, art studios, and a separate library—creating autonomous zones within a unified campus where each level can develop its own rhythm.

Twenty Minutes to the Capital

RER line A, SNCF trains, and buses link Maisons-Laffitte with Paris. It’s just twenty minutes by train from Charles de Gaulle-Étoile station, convenient for families living in the city center or arriving from abroad. Yet this accessibility doesn’t disturb the intimate scale of the place. Students live surrounded by parkland while staying connected to Paris’s cultural resources, giving them the advantages of both worlds without sacrificing either.
