Extracurricular Activities

Scope of the Program

Students at King’s College Soto de Vinuelas Madrid access over 40 different activities weekly, which run during lunch breaks and after school, supplemented by regular excursions and overnight educational trips. The extracurricular program balances three pillars—academics, sports, and arts—allowing each child to develop talents across multiple areas rather than choosing just one. This approach has helped many graduates pursue careers at world level, with some competing at the Olympics while others became professional actors or musicians.

Creativity and Culture

The school runs a choir, orchestra, rock bands, and numerous ensembles that regularly perform at concerts and an annual musical in its 400-seat auditorium. Those wanting to deepen their musical skills can take individual vocal and instrumental lessons. Beyond music, older students engage in TEDx, philosophy clubs, and debating societies. These creative activities often happen jointly with other Madrid schools and Inspired network campuses worldwide, which broadens social circles and opens doors to international cultural projects.

Sports at King’s College Soto de Vinuelas Madrid

Students can choose from over 30 sports—ranging from classic football, basketball, swimming, and tennis to horseback riding, skateboarding, rugby, surfing, and even go-karting. Specialist coaches lead training sessions, while teams regularly compete in inter-school tournaments across Madrid and abroad. As one of Spain’s most competitively oriented international schools, the campus hosts constant tournaments alongside away matches. Active lifestyle enthusiasts can pursue the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the unique S2S Ambassador Award, which includes summiting Mount San Pedro.

Leadership

King’s College Soto de Vinuelas Madrid operates an extensive leadership system that includes class representatives, prefects, house captains across four houses, and sports team captains—roles that help older students develop organizational skills while taking responsibility for their community. Alongside these positions, thematic committees address student council matters, charity work, equality and diversity, and environmental issues. Students themselves initiate projects, run the school newspaper Chronicle, and participate in awards management, while the traditional house system organizes weekly competitions—sports matches, debates, photo contests, and quizzes—fostering a spirit of healthy rivalry.
