London Southbank University secured strong positions in key educational rankings for 2025, achieving 6th place globally for reducing inequality according to Times Higher Education while placing 4th among London’s modern universities in the Guardian University Guide. Most notably, LSBU claimed 1st place for graduate median salaries among all contemporary London institutions based on LEO 2025 data, complemented by a silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework, which assesses teaching quality and student success.

LSBU CareerSmart Programme

The university operates a dedicated LSBU CareerSmart programme that embeds career preparation into academic study from day one. Students receive individual consultations, attend masterclasses, and utilize personal skills trackers alongside an AI-powered CV-building system. This approach has led graduates to secure positions at Bloomberg, Morgan Stanley, Warner Bros. Discovery, and BNP Paribas. Additionally, the institution runs a student-led legal clinic supervised by faculty and practicing solicitors, which has already served nearly 5,000 clients from local communities.

Campus Infrastructure

Over the past three years, the Southwark campus received £65 million in investment, creating a contemporary learning environment for 23,000 students. The grounds house 31 specialized laboratories, studios, and workshops, while over 850 study spaces equipped with computers and specialized software support both taught sessions and independent work. LSBU also features facilities unique to the capital, including London’s only anechoic chamber for acoustic research, a professional radio studio, and the Edric theatre—a 90-seat venue accompanied by seven rehearsal spaces for performing arts students.

Student Life at London Southbank University

The Students’ Union operates under student management and ranks among the country’s most active, supporting 85 clubs and societies spanning sport, arts, science, and volunteering—its members represent academic interests and contribute to institutional development decisions. Social mission has remained central to LSBU’s philosophy for over 130 years. Approximately 55% of students come from ethnic minority backgrounds, making this one of Britain’s most diverse campuses, while accessible entry requirements enable people from various social backgrounds to access quality technical education.
