Admission

Ages and Formats

North Bridge House Prep School welcomes children from Reception through Year 8, covering ages 4 to 13. Rather than imposing rigid selection criteria, the school focuses on understanding each child—whether they’re ready for classes, likely to engage with the material, and able to form friendships with peers. Most openings occur in Reception, Year 2, and Year 3 when new classes form. Younger applicants experience a playful introduction, while older students complete a brief assessment and chat individually with teachers.

Admission Steps at North Bridge House Prep School

Everything begins with a quick online inquiry: an admissions officer contacts the family to discuss the program and answer questions, helping parents determine if it’s the right fit. Families can then attend an open day or book a tour to see classrooms, meet teachers, and hear directly from current students. The online application takes about twenty minutes and requires a £180 registration fee. Reception and Year 2 candidates receive invitations to Discovery Morning—an autumn play session where children interact naturally while staff observe their readiness.

Assessments and Timeline

For those applying to Year 3 and beyond, the school arranges a short online test covering mathematics and English, followed by an interview with a member of leadership (either individually or in a small group). Seven-year-olds typically sit their assessments in November, with responses distributed by mid-January. Results arrive quickly: youngest applicants hear back within two weeks of Discovery Morning, while 7+ candidates receive decisions by January 12th and must respond by February 9th. Older age groups negotiate timelines separately, and if no vacancies exist, the school offers a waiting list.

Fees and Discounts

Annual tuition varies by age: Reception costs £9,537 per term, Years 1-2 run £9,954, Years 3-6 cost £10,389, and Years 7-8 reach £10,442 (2026 rates). From Year 3 onward, fees include a personal tablet or laptop for lessons. Families with multiple children enrolled receive 5% off for the second child, 10% for the third, and 15% for each additional sibling. Upon enrollment, parents pay a £2,000 deposit, refundable when their child completes their education—provided they give a term’s notice and settle all outstanding bills.
