School Day Schedule

The junior school opens its doors at 8:10 a.m. The youngest nursery children begin with free play—building with blocks and molding plasticine—before moving to guided activities where they paint, run a pretend post office, and learn to count. Afternoons bring cooking workshops, forest school sessions, and story time. As students progress through Years 1 and 2, their mornings fill with phonics, mathematics, music, and swimming. By upper primary, the rhythm intensifies: English, computing, geography, and history flow into afternoon science experiments and sports training, wrapping up around 4 p.m., though additional activities run until five.

Extracurricular Life at Rendcomb College

Beyond academics, Rendcomb College offers over 100 extracurricular activities that cater to aspiring Oxbridge applicants, future veterinarians, and art enthusiasts alike. Sports range from equestrianism and rowing to golf and mountain biking, while those preferring cerebral teamwork can join the debating society, a Dungeons & Dragons group, or various school committees.

Years 7 through 9 undertake an independent learning project, choosing topics that fascinate them—perhaps a historical biography, local nature cataloging, or analyzing how an invention reshaped society. They dedicate two to ten hours to their research, culminating in presentations that sharpen their public speaking skills and confidence before peers.

Spiritual Development

St. Peter’s Church, a Grade II listed building nestled on campus, anchors Rendcomb College’s spiritual life through regular services and assemblies. Throughout the year, the community celebrates Harvest Festival, Remembrance Day, Advent, and Mothering Sunday, welcoming families to join. The pinnacle comes with the Christmas service held at Cirencester Parish Church, where the entire school gathers. These traditions not only preserve spiritual heritage but shape students’ understanding of morality and communal values, preparing them for life beyond graduation.

Environment for Sixth Form Students

Sixth Form students claim their own space in Old Rectory, a restored building where historical fireplaces and plasterwork meet modern study zones designed for both individual focus and collaborative work, alongside lounges, a kitchen, and a games room—easing their transition toward university independence.

The medical center ensures round-the-clock care, with a nurse always on duty to provide comprehensive services for boarders day and night. Equipped with several wards, kitchen and laundry access, it connects students to the local practice voted best in the Cotswolds in 2017.
