Roedean School’s Facilities Through the Eyes of Students

Boarding Facilities

Roedean School provides a welcoming boarding experience with six houses where old and new features blend seamlessly. Each house has a ‘snug’ on every floor with a kitchen, centered around the ‘Old Dining Room’ (ODR) and common rooms for relaxation, leisure, and interaction with house staff. Junior boarders share bedrooms, while Sixth Formers enjoy single rooms across separate houses, accompanied by silent and collaborative study spaces. The school offers various boarding options, with engaging weekend activities and pastoral workshops for over 330 girls on site.

Sports Facilities

Acknowledging the significance of sports in girls’ development, Roedean School presents a diverse co-curricular program featuring 21 activities, including karate, fencing, horse-riding, golf, tennis, and yoga, supported by specialist teachers and coaches. The school’s sports facilities encompass two swimming pools, a water-based AstroTurf, tennis and netball courts, an indoor gymnasium with a climbing wall, and four squash courts.

Theatre and Chapel

The Roedean Theatre, with its 350-seat capacity, is a premium facility, recently renovated to feature outstanding acoustics and enhanced technical capabilities. It is managed by a dedicated Theatre Manager and technician, with students trained in its operations and stage management. Additionally, the school’s chapel is an integral part of the campus, offering a serene space essential to the school’s ethos.

Sixth Form Centre

The Sixth Form Centre at Roedean School contributes significantly to the enriching experience for older students, featuring study bedrooms and common areas in the Centre or snugs within their House for academic pursuits and social engagement. The Centre fosters independence, encouraging a balanced academic and social life while nurturing maturity.
