Early Years Preparation
Rugby School Thailand shapes learning through play and natural curiosity. Before age two, children explore music, movement, and creativity while building social skills without academic pressure. The Early Years program then adapts to each child’s interests, bringing in specialists for swimming, sports, music, and languages. When students reach primary school (Years 1–4), one teacher handles core subjects while specialists lead languages, sports, and arts—complemented by dozens of after-school options like ballet, tennis, LEGO, and coding. EAL and SFL programs support those needing language adaptation.
Middle School at Rugby School Thailand
From age nine, Rugby School Thailand shifts to subject specialists, while form tutors guide the Whole-Me program—covering personal growth, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility. Students explore English, mathematics, sciences, history, geography, computing, and PE alongside:
- Thai language
- Spanish
- Mandarin
- Music
- Drama
- Art
- Design and technology
Classes stream by ability in English, mathematics, Thai, and Mandarin. At eleven, students join the BYOD system and develop varied reading techniques. Year 9 becomes foundational for IGCSE, offering fifteen subjects, the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, and the Ask better questions course that teaches research skills.
IGCSE Preparation
Years 10 and 11 concentrate on IGCSE exams—two-year courses assessed through coursework, portfolios, or external tests from Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA. Everyone studies mathematics, English (choosing between first language, additional language, or literature), and sciences (single or double award), then selects from:
- Art
- Design and technology
- Computer science
- Business studies
- Geography
- History
- Drama
- Music
- Physical education
- Thai
- Spanish
- Mandarin
Teachers push beyond standard curricula while students complete Duke of Edinburgh and join Enrichment activities—from debates to elite sports and RST Make A Difference charity work. By Year 11, each student works with tutors to choose three or four A Level subjects.
A Levels and Final Specialization
The final two years focus on A Levels, which demand serious commitment both inside class and beyond. Students concentrate on three or four subjects they genuinely care about, with ten lessons per fortnight each. Grades from Years 12 and 13 combine into the final qualification that universities worldwide recognize as gold standard. Beyond mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, English literature, history, geography, computer science, and PE, students may choose:
- Art and design
- Business
- Design and technology
- Digital media and design
- Drama and theatre
- Economics
- Mandarin
- Further mathematics
- Music
- Psychology
Extended Project Qualification offers independent research opportunities, while HSK and IELTS exams complement the gold Duke of Edinburgh award.
