About the School

St Peter’s School in York traces its history back to 627, which places it among the world’s oldest educational establishments. Spread across 50 acres along the river in this historic city’s heart, it brings together 1,300 students aged 2 to 18. The school serves as the official choir school for York Minster—the cathedral with which it shares a founder, St Paulinus of York.

Boarding

St Peter’s School accepts boarders from Year 7 onwards, offering full seven-day boarding for all ages or flexible formats of 2 to 5 nights for Years 7–11. From September 2026, three houses will operate: Dronfield for Sixth Form girls, Linton for Sixth Form boys, and The Manor for younger students in co-ed accommodation. Students live under the guidance of Houseparent couples who create a family atmosphere, with round-the-clock access to the medical center, library, sports facilities, and pool.
