Admission

Ages and Admission

St Peter’s School welcomes children from age two through Nursery and Reception, with main entry points opening at Year 4—where York Minster choristers receive priority—alongside Years 7, 9, and 12. This structure allows students to complete their entire educational journey until graduation at eighteen. Applications for Nursery through Year 10 close on December 31st of the year before entry, while Sixth Form candidates face an earlier October 31st deadline since A Level programmes demand longer selection periods. Families seeking financial support must submit scholarship documents by December 1st for Years 7–9 or October 31st for Sixth Form.

Selection Process

Candidates applying to Years 7 and 9 sit computer-based assessments in mathematics, English, and reasoning each January, alongside a creative essay and group activity that reveals how they communicate and collaborate. For Sixth Form entry, applicants take November subject exams across three chosen A Level disciplines, attend interviews, and provide school references with predicted grades—at least six GCSEs at level 6. International students unable to travel to York can arrange online testing with the admissions team, receiving results within two weeks.

Tuition at St Peter’s School

A year of boarding at the school costs international Sixth Formers £51,810, while Years 9–11 pay £51,360 and Years 7–8 £43,770—all covering lessons, meals, and most co-curricular activities. Families needing flexi-boarding can book packages of ten nights for £1,170. Music tuition runs separately at £41 per forty-minute session from Year 4 onward, instrument hire adds £40 each term, and English language support—when deemed necessary—costs £38 per lesson.

Requirements for International Students

All overseas boarders must appoint an education guardian living within two hours of campus; those holding Child Study Visas need AEGIS-accredited guardians specifically. As a licensed visa sponsor, the school requires guardian contracts before issuing Certificates of Acceptance. Entry stamps appear in passports upon UK arrival, with copies retained by administration to meet immigration standards. The admissions team speaks Russian, Chinese, and German, smoothing the process for international families.
