Pedagogy
Through Year 4, St Peter’s School employs thematic learning where students explore new texts each term and formulate questions alongside their teachers. They discover answers through math, writing, sciences, and creative work while developing emotional literacy. From Year 5 onward, the school shifts to inquiry-based learning—students dive into projects that sharpen critical thinking, teamwork, and time management, building foundations for later academic life.
Academic Initiatives at St Peter’s School
The Sirius Society, led by sixth-formers, organizes lectures, discussions, and clubs covering law, medicine, and engineering—creating space for independent thinking across year groups. Academic scholars present at Laurentius Lectures, attend annual dinners, and regularly win national competitions in mathematics and robotics. Since 2007, St Peter’s School has participated in the York Independent State School Partnership, bringing masterclasses and collaborative projects with local state schools.
Technology at St Peter’s School
Digital tools weave through school life from early years: children use programmable robots, VR headsets, and augmented reality, then share their work on the school platform and personal YouTube channels. All classrooms feature interactive boards and iPad sets, while the computing department runs after-school sessions in game development. Students learn to select appropriate apps, program devices, work safely online, and connect code with electronics.
