School History

Dr. Stephen Perse died in 1615, and The Perse School for boys was later founded on land he’d owned. The school evolved over centuries: girls arrived in 1881, co-education reached the senior school in 2008, then spread to younger years by 2010. Today, Stephen Perse Schools welcomes students from ages 1 to 18.

Recognition for Stephen Perse Schools

The Sunday Times has twice awarded Stephen Perse Schools the title of “Best International School.” It earned further recognition as “Independent School of the Year” in 2014 for its contemporary teaching methods. Through mergers with Dame Bradbury’s School in 2013 and Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies in 2018, it began welcoming sixth-form students from 2019.

Innovation and Apple Partnership

As an “Apple Distinguished School,” Stephen Perse Schools leads in digital learning through classroom iPad use. Its Cambridge campus offers cutting-edge facilities and flexible learning environments. A recently completed five-story complex houses a rooftop sports area, Sport England standard sports hall, activity zones, classrooms, and an education center.

Equality and Balance

Close teacher-student relationships define Stephen Perse Schools. The once female-dominated staff has diversified since 1962, with men now comprising around 20% of educators. By actively challenging gender stereotypes and encouraging girls in subjects like mathematics and physics, the school has produced graduates who thrive in science, politics, and academia.
