Location

The university sits in Moulsecoomb, a northeastern Brighton suburb 3.6 kilometers from the seafront. This area takes its name from Old English “Mul’s valley,” honoring a Saxon nobleman, though its character transformed after WWI when chalk meadows gave way to housing under the “Homes Fit for Heroes” campaign. Today the district weaves together academic infrastructure with natural spaces and heritage landmarks—Wild Park preserves an untouched chalk valley, while the 18th-century Moulsecoomb Place mansion, Brighton’s oldest non-religious building, once belonged to Thomas Cromwell.
