Collegiate Tradition
Founded in 1841 as Whitelands College, University of Roehampton brought together four historic institutions—Whitelands (1841), Southlands (1872), Digby Stuart (1874), and Froebel (1892)—whose unique collegiate structure shapes an academic community where each preserves its distinct identity. Though university status arrived in 2004, its philosophy of accessible education has been developing for nearly two centuries, while three Georgian mansions from 1760-1777, including James Wyatt’s Grove House, connect the campus to a rich architectural heritage.
