Dance, Music, and Drama

At Uptown International School, students can immerse themselves in dance, music, and drama under excellent conditions. The school provides studios equipped with stage lighting and surround sound for dance and drama, while music enthusiasts have access to rooms for group and solo performances, as well as classrooms and rehearsal spaces.

Uptown Curriculum

In drama classes, students explore various styles and practices, including those of Stanislavski and Brecht. This helps develop their acting skills, self-confidence, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking. Music classes expose students to a wide range of genres, styles, and traditions—from classical to musicals, from African to Arabic music. Students perform, compose, and learn about music technologies.

Extracurricular Activities

Beyond regular classes, Uptown International School offers a variety of extracurricular activities. These include choir, rock band, orchestra, violin ensemble, and percussion orchestra. Students also participate in inter-house competitions, live performances, and winter concerts.

Uptown School Dance Program

The dance program, especially the Dubai Desert Dance, is highly popular, attracting over 100 participants annually. Students not only dance but also work backstage, creating costumes and sets, and managing technical aspects.

Performances and Events

From grades 6 to 12, students gain experience and energy through various productions, concerts, live performances, Sunday morning music sessions, and other events. Uptown International School also has a unique approach to the Model United Nations (MUN): older students mentor younger ones, guiding them from newcomers in grade 6 to strong leaders by grade 9.
