How Life Beyond Classes Works

After-school life at Verbier International School operates as a genuine ecosystem where everyone discovers their niche. The After School Activities program draws from both faculty expertise and student input, which means the roster evolves to reflect what genuinely captures interest. Options range from athletics and creative pursuits to expeditions across Switzerland and Europe, creating a multifaceted space where different threads of development naturally complement each other.

  • Winter and summer sports
  • Visual arts, music, and theater
  • Academic and applied clubs
  • Expeditions and cultural trips
  • Active weekends for boarding students

Sports for Everyone

Students engage with both team and individual disciplines—from football and basketball to horseback riding, golf, and mountain biking. Winter transforms the campus as skiing and snowboarding take center stage: everyone, starting from preschoolers, hits the slopes for at least six hours weekly. Partnering with Ecole Suisse de Ski ensures professional instruction whether someone’s just finding their balance or already tackling black runs.

Summer activities:

  • Hiking across 500 km of trails
  • Trail running and via ferrata
  • Surfing and wakeboarding
  • E-biking

Centre Sportif infrastructure:

  • 600-meter climbing wall
  • Two squash courts
  • Tennis courts (indoor and outdoor)
  • Gym and pool

Creativity at Verbier International School

Art here extends beyond drawing lessons—it becomes a lens for engaging with the world and discovering unconventional solutions. Students explore diverse artistic traditions while working alongside local artists, even collaborating with Verbier 3-D Sculpture Park so contemporary art permeates daily experience. Theater and music weave through the calendar, with everyone participating in productions throughout the year, particularly the Christmas and end-of-term performances.

  • Choir and drama
  • Woodworking
  • Culinary arts
  • Embroidery and decorative crafts
  • Chess

Expeditions and Journeys

Each term brings fresh routes: autumn sees October excursions, winter sends older students on ski adventures to Aletsch or Lenzerheide, while summer means exploring Switzerland and neighboring countries on foot. These travels cultivate independence and broaden perspectives. Boarding students’ weekends overflow with options—skiing, golf, tennis, music festivals, or trips to Swiss, Italian, and French cities. The campus actively supports student-generated ideas, discussing and often bringing them to life.
