Learning Structure

Verbier International School welcomes children from their earliest years and guides them through age 19. The journey begins with the English early years curriculum, transitions into the International Baccalaureate for middle school, and culminates with a choice between two university pathways: the traditional IB Diploma or the American High School route.

• Early years and primary education — EYFS and Key Stages 1-2
• Middle school (grades 7-11) — IB MYP
• Upper school (grades 12-13) — IB DP or High School Diploma

Personal Attention

Small classes mean no child goes unnoticed. Teachers become genuine mentors who know families personally, while the head engages directly with students and support specialists step in precisely when needed. Rather than forcing everyone forward at the same pace, the school challenges each student according to their readiness, building confidence through an environment where mistakes are part of growth.

Approach at Verbier International School

Younger students explore through play—sculpting, painting, performing—and even attend Forest School, where they build shelters, light fires, and work with real tools. Middle schoolers tackle open-ended challenges during regular expeditions into mountains and forests, with instructors present but nature setting the agenda. Upper school students gain autonomy through Learning Compass, a program that lets them choose their depth of study, diploma path, and workload while mentors help clarify goals and immediate steps.

Global Citizens

Students collaborate with peers from dozens of countries, develop environmental projects through Ecoschools, and participate in student council where their voices genuinely shape decisions. The school offers debate as an enrichment activity, and students over 14 can pursue The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award—progressing through Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels that combine community service, skill development, athletics, and adventurous expeditions.
