Campus and Boarding System

Worth School sprawls across 500 acres just 30 miles from London, nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its proximity to Gatwick (10 minutes) and Heathrow (50 minutes) makes it accessible for international students. The campus houses five senior boarding houses—Gervase House, Rutherford House, and St Bede’s House for boys, alongside St Catherine’s House and St Mary’s House for girls—plus the co-ed Austin House for 11-13 year-olds. Each accommodates roughly 50 students in full seven-day boarding.

Life in Worth School Boarding

Accommodation varies by age group. Younger students aged 13-16 share rooms with 2-4 peers, which helps them develop supportive relationships. Sixth-formers receive individual rooms with study areas where they can focus on academics. While facilities differ between houses, all provide communal lounges, libraries, computer rooms, and kitchens. St Mary’s Sixth features en-suite bathrooms and views over the South Downs, whereas Gervase House sits beside the golf course and includes a games room with billiards.

Wellbeing Support System

Worth School’s pastoral care operates on multiple levels. Each house has a housemaster supported by a deputy, matron, and chaplain, while every student receives a personal tutor who meets with them at least twice weekly to discuss progress and challenges. This framework is strengthened by 24-hour medical services throughout term time and a professional counselor who helps students navigate personal concerns. Such comprehensive support ensures pupils feel secure and know where to turn when they need assistance.

Dining and Recognition

Since about 50% of students board full-time, Worth School prioritizes nutritious dining as fundamental to their wellbeing. The dining hall serves diverse meals that sustain pupils throughout demanding schedules. In October 2024, Worth School received the Boarding School of the Year title, which recognizes its exceptional approach to residential life.
