Mentors

At CATS College Cambridge, each student works with Personal Tutors who meet their small group of fifteen daily. These mentors address everything from academic questions to emotional challenges, while monitoring attendance and preparing students for university applications. Houseparents live in the dormitories around the clock, creating a home-like atmosphere and liaising with teachers when they notice concerns—whether homesickness, academic struggles, or low spirits. The campus medical center provides nurses and a psychologist, and all boarding students are registered with Red House clinic, whose doctors specialize in working with teenagers.

Houses and Councils

Students join age-based houses: younger ones in Trinity Bridge, older students distributed among Eagles, Granta, and Sedgewick. This framework teaches self-care and teamwork while fostering a sense of belonging to something larger. Throughout the year, houses compete in sports days, intellectual quizzes, and relays, building friendly rivalry as they accumulate points. Meanwhile, each group elects a council representative, and houses choose captains who meet the director twice per term. The council runs charity drives, school events, and committees covering diversity, culture, media, sustainability, and health—giving students genuine influence over their daily experience.

Adaptation at CATS College Cambridge

Newcomers begin with an orientation covering the British education system, doctor registration, bank accounts, and Cambridge’s transport routes and shops. This helps them settle without unnecessary stress and make the city truly their own. The Student Communications team assists with everything from visa documents and airport transfers to ongoing questions throughout the year. Since all college life unfolds in English, students experience complete language immersion beyond lessons—in conversations, events, and everyday routines. This naturally develops fluency while building skills that prove valuable long after graduation.

Community

Parents receive progress reports every half-term alongside newsletters about college life. Any teacher or staff member welcomes family meetings, while tutors and Student Services connect educators, houseparents, and parents so everyone stays informed. Twice yearly, in June and August, graduation ceremonies celebrate exam achievements and bid farewell to departing students and their relatives. Throughout their time here, tutors and house directors maintain a complete picture of each student’s academic and personal development, arranging additional support or consultations whenever challenges arise—ensuring individualized attention and timely help in any situation.
