Extracurricular Activities at Lady Elizabeth School

House System

At Lady Elizabeth School (LES), students are divided into four houses: Woburn (blue), Chatsworth (green), Longleat (yellow), and Marlborough (red). Throughout their school years, students earn points for good behavior, care for others, initiative, and academic performance. The house tradition fosters a sense of belonging and loyalty. Many sports and charity events are organized within the houses, giving students of all ages the opportunity to work together as a team.

Charity at Lady Elizabeth School

Students at Lady Elizabeth School support local and international charities through the house system. They decide which causes to support and organize fundraising events, ranging from whole-school initiatives to individual efforts. This year, primary students at Lady Elizabeth School raised money for the British Legion, Save the Children, and Street Child United. During the “Cumbre Carnival,” they also contributed to three charities: Senegal Wells, the Makame Animal Shelter, and the Gandia Preventorium.

The school’s Leo Club, established in 2007, was the first Leo Club in Spain. It is run exclusively by students from Year 7 to Year 13, who organize events and decide which organizations to donate to. Each year, they elect a president, treasurer, secretary, and committee.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Lady Elizabeth School offers more than 50 extracurricular activities, student-led initiatives like “Student Voice” and “LES Times,” language trips, international programs such as the “ISP Model UN” and “TedXYouth,” the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and much more.

The “Plus” Clubs provide incredible opportunities for daily learning beyond the classroom, offering a wide range of activities in sports, performing arts, creativity, games, science, and technology.

Music lessons are available as part of the curriculum and through individual instruction in drums, saxophone, piano, violin, guitar, clarinet, flute, and singing.

Parent Involvement

The “Parents as Learners” program offers monthly sessions with experts on topics such as positive discipline, understanding the teenage brain, safe use of technology, and stress management. Parents can also participate in various sports, academic, and entertainment events.

Trips at Lady Elizabeth School

Primary students visit many places in the local community to reinforce classroom learning. The secondary school offers several educational and cultural trips each year to destinations like London, New York, China, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, France, Poland, and Italy.

Language trips to Paris and Berlin, an annual ski trip, and sports events between British and international schools are also available at Lady Elizabeth School.
