IB Programme

Royal High School Bath achieved an average score of 36.24 on the International Baccalaureate in 2024, notably surpassing the global benchmark of 30 points. Nearly a quarter of graduates earned top grades, while 87.50% scored between 4 and 7. The programme develops critical thinking and research skills that prepare students for leading universities worldwide, fostering an international educational approach that makes them competitive on a global scale.

GCSE and A-Level Exams

At the 2025 GCSE exams, 46.9% of all grades at Royal High School Bath were top marks of 9-8, with 93% scoring 5-9, making it Bath’s highest-performing school. For A-Level, 40.9% of grades reached A-A, and 99.3% of students passed with A-E. Small classes and subject specialists ensure personalized attention, allowing each student to reach her potential while the rigorous academic curriculum complements individual talent development.

Universities

82% of Sixth Form graduates secured places at their first-choice universities, including Oxford, LSE, UCL, King’s College London, Edinburgh, and Exeter. Half chose STEM disciplines—significantly above the national average. Students pursued programmes ranging from medicine and engineering to fashion and film, while 14 took gap years to explore broader opportunities before university.

Steinway School Status

Royal High School Bath holds the prestigious Steinway Music School status—one of 250 worldwide. In 2020, it opened a £2 million music centre featuring a 60-seat concert hall and professional recording studios. Students practice on ten Steinway pianos, including a concert Model B, and attend masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians like Joanna MacGregor and Charles Owen, while collaborating with Bath Philharmonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
