Digital Technologies in Education
Information technology stands as one of Yago School’s six foundational pillars, shaping its approach to future-ready education. Students begin exploring programming and digital tools early, which helps them develop problem-solving abilities and technological thinking. From fourth grade, each receives an iPad, while middle schoolers get a MacBook Air through a dedicated initiative. This enables them to apply their knowledge practically—whether in automation, network systems, three-dimensional design, or computational thinking.
Yago School Robotics Laboratory
In southern Spain, the institution has earned certification as a L.E.I.S — Lego Education Innovation Studio — Robotix, underscoring its serious commitment to robotics. The Lego 4C methodology (Connect, Build, Contemplate, Continue) emphasizes hands-on experimentation and project creation. Programs adapt to different ages: younger students work with Duplo and Early Simple Machines, progressing to We Do 2.0 and Powered Machines, while older ones tackle complex EV3 Mindstorms projects. Beyond standard kits, they also build custom robots from recycled materials, combining mechanisms and motors.
Practical Science
The science department aims to inspire future researchers by fostering curiosity and methodical thinking. Its modern laboratory allows learning through real experiments rather than theory alone. Middle and high schoolers present their research annually at the Science Fair, organized by the Andalusian Society for Science Popularization. Other initiatives include the “Mobilize for the Rainforest” campaign, celebrating Women and Girls in Science Day with meet-and-greets, and maintaining a garden where younger pupils experience the full cycle from planting to harvest.
Music and Creativity
From age six, all students must study piano, which develops coordination, language skills, memory, and emotional intelligence. Playing activates neural connections and builds discipline, with accomplished pupils able to earn international ABRSM (Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music) certification. The choir, led by Mr. John Durant, has performed at Seville’s Maestranza Theatre and even sang before the Pope at the Vatican. For contemporary music enthusiasts, there’s also a band that brings together students with shared interests.
