Early Years and Primary School

Yago School welcomes children from their first months, building a continuous educational pathway through graduation. The Nursery program for infants under three uses intellectual stimulation methodologies while immersing them in a bilingual environment where English becomes as natural as their mother tongue. By four months, babies distinguish between both languages; by the end of this stage, they understand and respond fluently in English. From preschool Infant (3–5 years) through Primary (5–12 years), students follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate, exploring mathematics, natural sciences, English and Spanish, Chinese, arts, music, and physical education through interdisciplinary research units that encourage questioning and real-world connections. Rather than providing ready answers, teachers guide student thinking, fostering independent learning.

Secondary Level at Yago School

The Secondary program (12–16 years) engages students through project-based learning (PBL), collaboration, flipped classroom technology, and the Socratic method. Coursework spans mathematics, natural sciences, English language and literature, technology, arts, music, and physical education, complemented by additional disciplines:

  • Spanish language and literature
  • Chinese language
  • Visual arts
  • Ceramics
  • Music history
  • Design and technology

In technology, students complete full design cycles—from problem analysis to prototyping suspension bridges, EV3 Mindstorms autonomous vehicles, HTML/CSS websites, Xcode applications, and Arduino-powered electric cars. The music program prepares students for ABRSM piano examinations or explores jazz, pop, and soundtracks, with the choir having performed alongside the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville and for the Pope in Vatican City.

International Baccalaureate

At the final stage (16–18 years), Yago School offers the IB Diploma Programme—a two-year course with external assessment recognized by universities worldwide. The diploma comprises three core components: Theory of Knowledge (critical thinking with philosophical foundations), CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service—projects in creative, athletic, and volunteer spheres), and Extended Essay (a 4,000-word research paper), alongside six subject groups:

  • Language and literature
  • Foreign language
  • Individuals and societies
  • Natural sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Arts (or additional subject from groups 3–4)

Students select three or four disciplines at higher level (240 hours) and the remainder at standard level (150 hours). The school expands choices through PAMOJA online courses, which develop independence and responsibility among upperclassmen.

Spanish and Integrated Baccalaureate

Beyond the full IB Diploma, Yago offers two alternatives. Spanish Baccalaureate Yago+ combines the Spanish program with key International Baccalaureate elements—Extended Essay and CAS—confirmed by official certification that strengthens applications to prestigious universities. This option allows entry to any Spanish university, with research work and volunteer projects distinguishing graduates among competitors. Integrated Baccalaureate grants two diplomas simultaneously—Spanish and international—opening maximum university choice. Spanish applicants can use whichever score proves higher, while international universities accept the IB Diploma without preparatory courses. Research shows dual-diploma graduates complete undergraduate degrees more frequently, continue to graduate studies, and participate more actively in campus life thanks to developed time-management skills, critical thinking, and an international approach to problem-solving.
