Language Environment and Exam Preparation

Bilingualism shapes the educational approach here, with English accounting for 70% of the school day while Spanish fills the remaining 30%. This creates an immersive environment where English flows naturally through hallways, lunch breaks, and assemblies—not just lessons. From age three, children engage with English literature, absorbing both linguistic structures and cultural perspectives. As they mature, debates, essay writing, and public presentations sharpen their command of the language, while Cambridge examinations—progressing from Starters through C2—validate their proficiency at each stage.

Chinese and French at Yago School

Chinese instruction begins at two and continues through sixth grade, positioning students to master three of the world’s most widely spoken languages—English, Spanish, and Chinese. Native speakers guide them through not only the writing system but also the cultural richness behind it. From middle school onward, learners choose between continuing with Chinese or switching to French, which serves as a diplomatic tool and is spoken by over 300 million people globally. Its structural similarities to Spanish make the transition smoother for Yago students.

International Certificates

The school prepares learners for globally recognized qualifications, including Cambridge ESOL assessments that students tackle progressively—from Starters in second grade through C2 by graduation. Beyond English, Yago holds unique accreditation as Western Andalusia’s only authorized center for Chinese YCT and HSK examinations through the Confucius Institute. French learners pursue DELF-DALF diplomas from the French Alliance, credentials valued by employers and universities worldwide.

Language Practice Abroad

Genuine immersion happens beyond the classroom through exchange programs and international study opportunities. Younger students might spend time at Riddlesworth Hall School in southern England, which shares similar pedagogical principles, while older learners access programs throughout Ireland, the United States, and Canada. These experiences serve multiple purposes: refining linguistic skills in authentic contexts, building cultural awareness, and developing independence away from home—qualities that strengthen their university applications and professional prospects.
