Programs

Junior School

At the primary level, Mount Kelly uses IPC—a curriculum where kids learn about nature, the past, places, and art through integrated projects like “Victorian Afternoon Tea,” which brings learning to life while connecting knowledge across disciplines. From Year 5 onward, specialist teachers take over individual subjects including English, mathematics, French, religious studies, and computer skills, while the Accelerated Reader program helps students develop a genuine love of reading through goal-setting and regular progress checks.

Middle Years

For GCSE, students take English, mathematics, and sciences—either as a combined course or three separate subjects—alongside four options chosen from an extensive selection that ranges from drama and music to business and computing:

  • Art
  • Business
  • Computer Studies
  • Design and Technology
  • Drama
  • French and Spanish
  • Geography and History
  • Music and PE
  • Philosophy and Religion

A Level at the School

Mount Kelly offers 22 A Level subjects, the traditional British qualification for university entry. Most students pursue three subjects over two years, though high-achievers can take four—particularly when combining standard mathematics with the further course.

  • Arts and Design: Fine Art and Photography, Product Design, Music
  • Humanities: Economics, Geography, Politics, the Past, Religious Studies
  • Sciences: Life Science, Chemistry, Natural Science, Psychology
  • Mathematics: with Further Mathematics
  • Languages: English Books, French, Spanish
  • Physical Education

BTEC as Another Choice

BTEC provides a hands-on option instead of A Level, where students do assignments and tasks with regular teacher help rather than sitting exams. Employers value these graduates for their hands-on skills, and nearly a quarter of British university applicants hold this qualification. Mount Kelly offers certificates equivalent to one A Level in Applied Science or Sports Coaching, a full diploma worth three A Levels in Sport, and a Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts with modules covering skill development and industry insight.
