History: from Institut Monte Rosa to Eastwood Montreux
More than 150 years of schooling on Avenue de Chillon
The campus at Avenue de Chillon 57 in Territet, Montreux, has housed a school since 1874, when the Institut des Essarts opened here. Under its later name, Institut Monte Rosa, it became one of the long-standing international boarding schools of the Swiss Riviera, set in a nineteenth-century mansion between the lake and the mountains.
The end of Institut Monte Rosa
After several years of reduced activity on the campus, Institut Monte Rosa closed as a school. The owners of the historic property kept it, and invited Eastwood Schools Group to establish a completely new school on the site rather than continue the old one.
A new school from 2026
Eastwood Montreux International School opens in September 2026 with its own name, identity, model and leadership. It is designed from the ground up for internationally minded families and focuses on leadership, entrepreneurship and impact, combining IB and American academics with a real-world project programme.
The Eastwood background
Eastwood traces its legacy back to 1973, and the school’s 53 Leaders mentor network – one mentor for every year since then – reflects that history. The group also runs Eastwood Global, an online school that provides the American Diploma for Eastwood Montreux students.
